Bhikkhuni Dhammananda is an inspiring teacher, and has given a talk for Little Bangkok Sangha in October 2007. Her English is excellent, and she explains dhamma in an accessible manner. Her temple is for women only, but not through any particular design. In recent times she has noted that there are also a lot of men who would also like to attend functions and retreats, and there are plans to build suitable quarters for this. For the moment it is nice for women to have a special place of their own.
As Associate Professor Dr. Chatsumarn Kabilsingh, she taught at Thammasat University in Bangkok for 27 years. Internationally known for her work on Women in Buddhism, and Buddhism and Environmental Conservation, she has written and translated more than 60 books into Thai. Her translations include the Lotus Sutra and Freedom in Exhile, an autobiography of the Dalai Lama. She is the director and abbot of Wat Songdhamma Kalyani Temple, an international training and educational centre for Buddhist Women.
