VAJRASATTVA EMPOWERMENT  (5:30 p.m.  –  6:30 p.m.)

In Vajrayana Buddhism, Vajrasattva is the embodiment of all the innate enlightened wisdom of all the Buddhas.  Therefore Vajrasattva practice is considered to be the best skillful method of purifying ignorance, which is the root of all negativities and suffering.  To receive Vajrasattva empowerment is to receive permission to do the Vajrasattva practice.  However, for those who do not wish to do this practice, it is all right to attend the empowerment ceremony merely for the sake of blessings and auspiciousness.

 Coffee Break:   6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

LECTURE ON   ” ACCUMULATION OF MERIT”   7:00 p.m. – 8:30  p.m.

Merit making is often thought to be primarily giving of material and monetary gifts.  However the Buddha taught of many types of accumulation of merit and many levels of charity.  All action starts mentally and likewise the act of giving originates with positive thoughts; hence, we should learn to discern what are positive thoughts and how to have more of them.  Positive actions are positive because they are born from positive motivation; therefore, we should learn to identify pure motivations and cultivate more of them.  Finally based on authentic positive thoughts and noble motivation we should learn the five key points that covers all accumulation of merit.  We will then be able to skillfully accumulate a great store of merit in our daily lives without much hardship, time, and effort.
