Introduction to Vajrayana Buddhism: March 3rd

The following is an announcement by Dr Soraj from Chulalongkorn University. He often invites interesting speakers to talk at Chula in the afternoon. Events are always free of charge, and are in English language. No need to be a student of the university … all interested parties welcome.

Both talks are led by Kunga Sangbo Rinpoche

Kunga Sangbo Rinpoche is a student of His Eminence Ludin Khen Rinpoche,  head of the Ngorpa tradition of the Sakya lineage, who has been in exile in India since 1959. Supported by the late Nangchen prince, Kunga Sangbo pursued schools in Kham, as well as at the college for monks and trugu (reincarnated monks) in Beijing.

A few years ago Ven. Kunga Sangbo Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness Sakya Trizin, Head of the Sakya tradition, as a reincarnation of the head lama of the Tashi Gong temple in central Tibet. He was bestowed the auspicious abbot’s hat by Luding Khen Rinpoche in 1990. He is the current abbot of Jyekundo Monastery, one of the largest Sakya monasteries in Kham with 500 monks in residence.

Here is a google earth photo. Walk down Henri Durant Road for 820 meters. The entrance is after you have passed under a foot bridge. Note, there are numerous entrances to various parts of the university, but you need the right one, after the footbridge. Once through the entrance look for the tall building off towards the right.  Talk is on the 7th floor.

If entering via taxi it will have to take a roundabout route within the Chulalongkorn compound.
